Ambrian Strengthens Oil & Gas Team

16 June 2010

Ambrian Partners Limited (“Ambrian”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ambrian Capital plc, is pleased to announce the strengthening of its Oil & Gas equities team following the appointment of Simon Hawkins as Head of Oil & Gas Research. Simon’s coverage will focus on mid- and large-cap exploration and production stocks.

Simon joins from the specialist independent global Oil & Gas research firm Omni Investment Research, which he founded. Previously, Simon held senior positions at UBS and Dresdner Kleinwort, having been ranked number one by Thomson Extel for his coverage of the European Gas sector, number two in European Oils and number three in European Utilities. Prior to becoming an analyst, Simon had eight years’ international experience with the Royal Dutch Shell Group of companies, working in economics and finance in Nigeria, The Netherlands, the Far East and the US.

Simon is joined by Sam Woodward who, in addition to company modelling, is also responsible for commodity price forecasts. Since completing his Masters in Financial Mathematics last year, Sam has consulted for JP Morgan before joining Simon Hawkins’ former firm, Omni Investment Research, as an Oil & Gas analyst.

Richard Chase, Managing Director of Ambrian Partners, commented:

“I am pleased to welcome Simon and Sam to the team and believe they will help to create a very strong equities Oil & Gas franchise at Ambrian. With Werner Riding’s existing small-cap coverage of Oil & Gas, Ambrian will now have a much fuller and more authoritative coverage of the sector.”
